I've had a couple races on over the last 2 weeks the first being round 2 of the North Island Cross Country Champs, this was held in Oparau which is roughly just down the coast a bit from Raglan.

The track was wicked Sean Clark(event organiser) had done a great job and it was also a hot day.

Off the start my bike took a few kicks to fire into life leaving me near dead last off the line, to make matters worse on myself I crashed in the 3rd corner off the start trying to make up some ground.

So now I definitely was dead last, not a great start to the day.

Now I should've just conceded it wasn't going to be my day and set a realistic goal of making the top 5 or something by race end, but no, as I've a couple of bad races & me being all stubborn as I am I wanted to go from last to 1st, this would turn out to be my downfall as I found out.

At the 2.15hr mark I pitted for fuel, I was in 4th position and right behind the 2nd & 3rd place riders, all was going to plan & I figured I could at least put myself into 2nd, but not long after leaving pit lane it hit me.
I had pushed to hard getting myself into this position, I had passed 64 riders on my way there and it had drained me to the point were my body had enough.
I wanted to give up, I felt sick and I couldn't focus on what I was doing but I did manage to finish out the race, but at a snails pace which dropped me back to 15th.

Lesson learnt, I guess I just need to go harder next time.

Next up was a 2hr Cross Country held in Wanganui this weekend just been, I've done a few of these Wanganui events and always seem to enjoy them and this round was no exception.

I got a off to a good start & moved into the lead on the second lap and set about opening up a good lead before the finish, it was a good days racing the bike went well, I went well and I figured a couple things out that will hopefully help my results in the bigger events.
