Raglan Rocx 4hr Cross Country & Wanganui 2hr Cross CountryI headed up to Raglan to race the 2nd round of the Raglan Roxc 4hr Cross Country this Saturday, last time I teamed up for the race with Whibley but he had headed back to the States & with my other teammates Rory in England and Adrian racing the Enduro X which was on the same day I was stuck with doing the race on my own. I wasn't to worried though its all good training for the up coming Nationals. I got off to a good start and settled into a reasonable position, but I was honestly having a hard job staying there, I wasn't agreeing with the bike at all. I'm on the new 2010 bike now but we simply haven't had a chance to do any setup work or test it out in some real rough fast conditions like we had in Raglan and it was proving to be a issue. Around the 2hr mark I came in a touch frustrated (understatement) and had a talk with my Pit crew (Sarah) for a few minutes then headed back out to finish the race, I put down a couple of fast laps towards the end of the race comparable to the guys at the front which made me feel a bit better about my ride but at the same time it beat me up a lot riding at that pace. Apart those from those issues the day was good the track was awesome a lot of people commented on that and also a lot of Pro Motocross guys (Townley,Cooper,Burkhart etc) turned up for the race so it was good to see them there. Anyway I drove home after the race for some rest then went to Wanganui on Sunday for round 2 of their 2hr Cross Country series. Before the start of the race I made a couple of small changes to the bike but after the first lap I felt like I may of gone in the wrong direction as it wasn't to pretty, I tossed up whether to come in and make some changes but I could see I was gaining on the front bunch of riders so I decided to tough it out for the 2hrs. By the 3rd lap I had taken over the lead and had started to pull away from the field, by race end I had a nice little lead as I took the checkers. But I was a touch exhausted, rough stats for the weekend was 15hrs driving & 6hrs racing so explainable I guess.
